2024 was a remarkable year for our mission of restoring the natural areas of Wissahickon Valley Park. Thanks to your support, we achieved record-breaking milestones that would have been impossible without our dedicated community of volunteers and donors. Together, we filled over 400 volunteer slots, amounting to an incredible 1,000+ hours of work—the highest total since 2009! Through 50 hands-on sessions, we planted some 300 trees—a significant increase from recent years—and dedicated more time to nurturing our existing restoration sites.
Our commitment to fostering the next generation of environmental leaders also grew this year, as we invested in paid opportunities for young stewards to help guide our volunteer sessions and tend to our plantings. This meant dipping into our savings to fund their time and energy, but the results have been extraordinary.
In 2025, we aspire to do even more. By increasing our capacity to plant and maintain trees and shrubs in the forest, we’ll help ensure that the Wissahickon’s ecosystems thrive for years to come. However, this ambitious vision requires your continued partnership. Your donation will allow us to expand our tree-planting programs, train and support more leaders, and sustain the critical maintenance efforts that protect the park’s natural beauty.
Please join us in making 2025 another record-breaking year for the Wissahickon. Together, we can grow not just a forest, but a legacy of ecological restoration and community care. Please donate today! We appreciate your generosity and your committment to being a part of this vital work. We couldn’t do it without you!
